WBO junior middleweight champion Brian Castaño weighed in at 153.75 lbs, and IBF/WBA/WBC champion Jermell Charlo came in at 152.75 lbs at Friday’s weigh-in for their rematch this Saturday night for the undisputed 154-lb championship at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Showtime Championship Boxing will be televising the card at 9:00 p.m. ET.

During the face-off, Charlo was staring in a bad way at Castano while chewing gum rapidly, showing how nervous he was. Compared to the last time the two fighters battled last July, Jermell was a lot tamer, choosing not to snarl.

This time, Charlo gave Castano a long mean look and continued to stare at him after the Argentinian turned away to face the crowd. Both fighters had their country’s flags around their shoulders when they posed for pictures for the media.

Last July, Castano & Jermell fought to a 12-round draw in San Antonio, Texas. Castano outworked & out-landed Jermell, but the judges failed to give him the win. We can only hope the judges don’t spoil it again this time.

In the co-feature bout, welterweight contender Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis battles Custio Clayton in an IBF 147-lb title eliminator. Ennis weighed in at 146.2 lbs, and Clayton (19-0-1, 12 KOs) weighed in at 146.6 lbs.

The winner of the Ennis vs. Clayton fight will be the mandatory challenger to IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. However, Spence is expected to vacate his titles soon if he doesn’t lose his undisputed 147-lb championship fight with WBO champion Terence Crawford.

“The boys [Charlo & Castano] look in good shape. They’re not as big as I thought they would be,” said Tim Tszyu to Fight Hub TV, talking about how IBF/WBA/WBO junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo & WBO champion Brian Castano looked during Friday’s weigh-in.

“Charlo has a small waist, and Castano is nice & thick in the body. You could see that Charlo looked taller,” continued Tszyu. “They look mentally ready.

“I feel like Charlo is more mentally prepared for this fight, and I feel like he can adapt,” said Tim in giving Jermell the edge against Castano for their rematch on Saturday night.

“He [Charlo] was really close in the last fight in taking him out, and I feel like this time, he’ll get the better advantage. But Castano is a workhorse, and he could bring the pressure.

“Also, as everyone knows, when you bring that kind of pressure, you’re also open to a lot of shots. I think this time around, Charlo will utilize it.

“I and Castano would be an all-out war because I don’t go back, and he doesn’t go back. That would be a classic, I believe. With Charlo, it’s more strategic.
