The undefeated and World Champion Superwelter of the World Boxing Organization Jaime Munguia from Tijuana, Mexico will face the Ghanaian Patrick Allotey this Saturday, at Dignity Health Sports Park, in Carson, California. The winner will take home the Maya Belt as honorary title.
The Mexican knocker will arrive with a mark of 33-0 y 26 knockouts and will be the first time Jaime enters the ring with his new coach also from Tijuana, Erick “Terrible” Morales who is a former professional boxer. Meanwhile the Ghanaian will do it with 40-3 y 30 out of combat, being the WBO champion of Africa.
As a celebration of the Mexican Independence weekend, Munguia declare be ready to perform his fifth superwelter title defense, declaring: “I feel ready and prepared to make my fifth defense and give them a great show, worthy of a September 14. I think I had one of my best preparations and I want to thank Erik Morales for all the things he has taught me… I feel ready, we are going with everything this September 14 and Viva Mexico.”
But of course, the Ghanaian wants the victory: “It is my moment, with the condition and strength that we acquired in my camp, we have what it takes to defeat Munguía, and we come to the United States for the world championship,”
This will be the last fight of the Mexican with his current weight (154 pounds). So, he wants to secure the victory to go to middleweight, he wants to face the best boxers of that division with the help of his promoter Fernando Beltrán who declare “In Golden Boy are the best 160 pounds and we are going to look for each one of them for Munguía, we are very motivated by the beautiful Mayan CMB belt and that could get to succeed, we are also proud that Jaime is the WBO monarch.”
This fight is the most anticipated for this 14, and both fighters Munguia and Allotey feel confident of victory. Coach Morales ensures an excellent exhibition of the Mexican “We were working very well in the gym, the changes are not going to be noticed overnight but we strive to move forward quickly and I am sure that when the time of the great fights approaches, Jaime will be ready, it is a very hungry and very talented boy. ”
Friday, September 14 in Carson California, Munguia and Allotey will be accompanied by Fury vs Wallin, Garcia vs Sparrow and Navarete vs Elorde.
