ALI TROPHY, SUPER-LIGHTWEIGHT FINAL
The WBSS final tournament on October 26 at the O2 Arena in London, England will see the current WBA super-lightweight American champion from New Orleans, Louisiana who is ranked as the world’s best active light-welterweight by The Ring magazine and second by BoxRec face the Scottish who has held the IBF junior-welterweight world championship since May of this year, ranked as the world’s second best active super-lightweight by The Ring magazine and third by BoxRec.
“I’m massively excited. I want to prove I’m the best in the division by taking on the best fighters…”I’m very confident that I can outbox him and outfight him as well, I can’t see anything other than a Josh Taylor win.” Said Taylor.
The Scottish won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in the light welterweight division in 2014, has won all his 15 fights, 12 of them by knockout and 3 by decision. And the American is ranked also as the world’s best active light-welterweight by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board and has won his 24 fights, 20 via knockout and 4 by decision.
World Boxing Super Series will bring two southpaws top three fighters at 140 pounds this October 26 in London. And we will see if the trophy goes to the United States or United Kingdom.
“We’ll just have to wait and see how he comes out when that first bell rings on Oct. 26. We can predict how he is going to fight and things like that, but you never know until that bell rings. It might be a skillful boxing match throughout the entire fight, or we could just lock horns and fight, or a bit of both. You never know” Said Taylor.
