Although Nery was given an hour to lose that extra pound, the former champion refused to do it.
The negotiations were present and Nery’s team tried to give Rodriguez an economic compensation for the fight to take place, but they rejected the offer and decided not to leave at a disadvantage, so the fight that was agreed to 12 rounds on the card headed by Deontay Wilder vs. Luis Ortiz last Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena it was canceled.
