Once again the Mexican boxer former world champion Luis ”Pantera” Nery failed again
on the bascule by not giving the weight to the Puerto Rican Emmanuel ”Manny” Rodriguez.
In a championship fight in which Nery put in play his WBC silver belt,
and be a qualifying match to dispute the WBC bantamweight belt against the French Nordine Oubaali (17-0. 12KOs)

Nery with 24 years of age and a record of (30-0. 24KOs) born in the city of Tijuana, Mexico
arrived at the bascule with a weight of 119 pounds, one pound above the limit of bantamweight.
While 27-year-old Manny Rodriguez with a record of (19-1. 12KOs) from the city of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico,
gave the exact weight of 118 pounds.

Although Nery was given an hour to lose that extra pound, the former champion refused to do it.
The negotiations were present and Nery’s team tried to give Rodriguez an economic compensation for the fight to take place, but they rejected the offer and decided not to leave at a disadvantage, so the fight that was agreed to 12 rounds on the card headed by Deontay Wilder vs. Luis Ortiz last Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena it was canceled.
